Fosston, Minnesota
Date: 2015 – 2025
Client: City of Fosston
The City of Fosston has long envisioned expanding its industrial park to accommodate continued growth in both heavy and light industry. To make that vision a reality, the City secured more than $6.6 million in combined Federal and State grant funding to develop 40 acres of land on the city’s edge — property originally purchased over a decade ago. This effort represents the fourth and final phase of Fosston’s industrial park expansion, following earlier phases that have already doubled projected employment goals.
AE2S has partnered with the City of Fosston for more than ten years, providing engineering services for a range of municipal projects. For the industrial park expansion, AE2S led the surveying, geotechnical investigations, and full design of utilities and street infrastructure required to serve the new development area. Because the project was Federally funded, AE2S also assisted the City with administrative tracking and compliance documentation to maintain eligibility for grant reimbursement.
The expansion not only extends Fosston’s industrial footprint but also strengthens its economic base by attracting new industries and creating jobs. Earlier expansions anticipated 50 new positions and exceeded 100; the City expects similar or greater outcomes from this latest phase. Residents have shown strong support, recognizing the project as a visible sign of community growth and collaboration.
Through proactive communication, technical expertise, and a commitment to partnership, AE2S helped the City of Fosston transform vision into opportunity – building the infrastructure that fuels local development and long-term prosperity.
