SCADA System Integration for Water and Collections Infrastructure

City of Burnsville water and collections SCADA system consists of 17 wells, two water treatment plants, one booster station with in-ground reservoir, three elevated water tanks, five pressure points, one water interconnect with the City of Savage, 15 sanitary lift stations, and seven stormwater lift stations.

AE2S completed a system-wide SCADA needs assessment in 2007 prior to the initial SCADA improvements design project in 2008. That assessment was a key tool that helped obtain a state government grant to assist with fiber optic cable installation throughout the majority of the City.

The SCADA design project upgraded all sites with Ethernet-equipped controls hardware to utilize the fiber optic network for SCADA site telemetry and communications. AE2S also performed a second SCADA needs assessment in 2018, which has resulted in a SCADA software upgrade currently in process.
