Upcoming Regulations to Watch

AE2S was founded 26 years ago with the goal of providing compliance assistance to utilities and municipalities faced with amendments to the Safe Drinking Water Act amendments, namely the Surface Water Treatment Rule.  Although AE2S has expanded since 1991 to include many additional services, our core services still revolve around water – drinking water, wastewater, stormwater, and water resources.  The AE2S staff places a high importance on monitoring upcoming regulations to help our clients remain in compliance with current and future federal and state guidelines.

AE2S is following eight specific contaminants which are listed below.  The chart includes the contaminants’ source, regulatory schedule, health effects, treatment, and the potential impacts to utilities along with links to additional information.

If you have questions about the potential impact to your utility, contact Nate Weisenburger, AE2S Drinking Water Practice Leader, at, or Scott Schaefer, AE2S Wastewater Practice Leader, at
