USEPA Delays Effective Date of Risk Management Plan Rule
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) announced it will reconsider the “Accidental Release Prevention Requirements: 'Risk Management Programs Under the Clean Air'” (“RMP Rule”). The decision delays the effective date of the RMP Rule regarding chemical accident preparedness and prevention until June 19, 2017.
The 90-day extension is intended to allow time for USEPA to consider whether to further extend the effective date of the RMP Rule through a rulemaking action while the Rule is being reconsidered. The decision to review the RMP Rule comes in response to a petition the USEPA received from the RMP Coalition.
