WEF Water4Jobs Campaign

The Water Environment Federation (WEF) is drawing more attention to water issues during this presidential election year with its Water4Jobs campaign. WEF recently launched an outreach website - waterforjobs.org. The site is a one-stop shop that is filled with tools to help further the message in your community.

Water4Jobs aims to raise awareness about the value and importance of water, water-related issues, and the water profession. WEF is focusing on the swing States over the next couple weeks, prior to the NovWater4Jobsember 6 election. The organization is also working to get water topics into the Presidential debates.

Some of the key Water4Jobs messages include:

  • Investment in water infrastructure safeguards public health.
  • Investment in water infrastructure is good for the economy and brings local jobs to communities.
  • The country's aging infrastructure and a lack of Federal funding for water infrastructure projects needs to be remedied.
  • Infrastructure inefficiencies increase operations & maintenance costs.

At waterforjobs.org, you'll find templates for letters to the editor that can be sent to local newspapers, a State by State breakdown of infrastructure needs, contact information for members of the U.S. House and Senate with a letter template, tips for using social media to promote the campaign, and many other resources.

You can keep up with Water4Jobs on Twitter by following @waters4wef. There is also a LinkedIn discussion group called Water4Jobs. Click here to check out the Water4Jobs website.
