GIS Day Event

GIS Day Event

AE2S celebrated GIS Day this past Wednesday, -November 19, 2014 during our company-wide professional development conference titled “The Big Event”.  We set up a designated booth at the meeting with GIS Day give-away items (thanks ESRI), a GIS Day cake, and a contest.  The contest was inspired by an event that ESRI created for their 2014 Users Conference last July.  We posted 10 aerial photos with a question underneath each photo to assist people in guessing the AE2S location.  The individual passing by the booth could enter to win by filling out a card to identify as many locations as possible.  We had hundreds of people view the contest, and around 50 participants.  Congratulations to Matt Odegard for winning our GIS Day contest!

GIS Day was inspired by Ralph Nader in 1999 as a way to raise awareness about how GIS is making a difference in the world.
