  • Lake Agassiz Water Authority Engineering Consultant
AE2S was retained by the Lake Agassiz Water Authority to serve as its representative on the Technical/Study Review Team for the Red River Valley Water Supply Project, which was intended to address water quality and quantity challenges posed by the relatively unreliable and poor water sources available to municipalities and regional water systems of the Red River Valley. In this capacity, AE2S reviewed study documents, provided written comments, assisted water systems with various technical issues, and participated in scheduled meetings and related discussions. Input from AE2S provided direction for the development of alternatives that would meet the long-term water supply needs of the project's stakeholders. For a more detailed description click here.
  • Sioux Falls Future Water Supply
This project addressed projected water supply shortfalls attributed to anticipated population growth and associated commercial and industrial development for the City. The evaluation included: 1) the preparation of population and water demand projections; 2) water system concept development to supplement the proposed water system capacity from Lewis & Clark Rural Water System; 3) water system concept development to utilize the City's Future Use Permit for the Missouri River; 4) estimation of opinions of total probably project costs and incremental operations and maintenance costs associated with the alternatives; 5) a discussion of implementation considerations such as funding, project phasing, water supply appropriations, land/easement acquisition, government agency review and approval, and environmental compliance; 6) a present worth financial analysis of the considered alternatives and discussion of non-cost considerations; and 7) development of conclusions and recommendations. • Bismarck Horizontal Collector (Ranney) Well
The City of Bismarck retained AE2S to complete an investigation into the viability of using Horizontal Collector Well (HCW) technology as a reliable water supply alternative. The studied showed that HCW was a viable solution, and the City asked AE2S to move forward with the design of the new intake. AE2S followed a phased approach for design of the HCW system. The project was separated into three components; Phase I consisted of the collector caisson and lateral wells, Phase II was the raw water transmission line from the well to the WTP, and Phase III included the pumping station at the well. The successful implementation of the horizontal well technology will eliminate variations in the raw water quality and the future need for expanded pretreatment at the Bismarck WTP.
