  • Drainage and Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan
Big Tree Nursery asked AE2S for assistance with the development of a site grading/drainage plan for a proposed 3-acre commercial business site, as well as assistance with stormwater permitting. The site was subject to Minnesota Pollution Control Agency National Pollutant Discharge/State Disposal System permit requirements and also was required to complete a Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP). AE2S proposed a stormwater quality/detention pond to control water from storm events. Modeling was utilized to analyze the existing and proposled drainage conditions for the site. The model also enabled the proper analysis of the proposed outlet device. AE2S drafted a SWPPP, as well as taking care of the other permitting/drainage requirements, and Big Tree Nursery was able to obtain their city drainage permit in under an hour. • UND Stormwater Master Plan and Updates
AE2S was retained to conduct a comprehensive stormwater management master plan for the East Campus of the University of North Dakota. The campus was experiencing flooding problems and frequent water damage during rainfall events. The study included a detailed subsurface investigation to determine the condition, composition, and extent of the storm sewer system. A computer model of the watersheds and piping systems was constructed to enable accurate analysis and efficient modeling of proposed imrpovement options. For a more detailed description click here.
  • Urban Plains Water Quality Management Plan and Stormwater Modeling
AE2S was retained to develop a water quality management plan and stormwater modeling for the Urban Plains development in Fargo, ND. The development includes a unique water feature which provides a local attraction and stormwater retention. Runoff analysis was performed and a HydroCAD model was set up to replicate the existing on-site conditions. The model was used to generate peak flows for 2-year, 10-year, and 100-year hydrologic events. A model was also created in XP-Storm Stormwater Management to aid in the design of the stormwater system. A water quality management plan was then created, using estimated nutrient and sediment loading to the main pond from the proposed uses of the surrounding land. The plan included appropriate water control strategies and water quality control recommendations for construction of the water feature. For a more detailed description click here.

Stormwater Planning

It’s all in the planning.  You can’t plan for all of Mother Nature’s natural occurences, but you can plan for some events to make your infrastructure effective and efficient.  AE2S designers and engineers work with our clients to create a vision of a successful stormwater system through extensive analyzing, modeling, and planning. We have provided expert stormwater master planning to small and large cities alike, as well as college campuses and industrial sites. When you have a solid plan, everything else will fall into place.
