MANTADOR RESIDENTS BENEFIT FROM AWARD WINNING PROJECT
5/11/2009
Deteriorating water and wastewater infrastructure is a critical problem which numerous communities across the nation are facing. Mantador, ND was no different, experiencing extensive sewer backups due to the poor condition of its sanitary sewer system.
Advanced Engineering and Environmental Services, Inc. (AE2S) was retained by the City to rehabilitate the failing sanitary sewer system. Trenchless sewer repair using Cured In Place Pipe was utilized to reline the entire network of sanitary sewer piping. This technology uses a resin coated material that is placed into the pipe while it is soft, then cured using water or steam. The use of trenchless technology resulted in little to no damage to the roads and sidewalks above the pipe and savings of 15 percent over the cost of installing new traditional polyvinyl chloride (PVC) pipe in the system. This innovative use of technology not only provided a great benefit to the City, but also earned Mantador and AE2S recognition from the North Dakota Council of Engineering Companies (NDCEC) in the form of an Engineering Excellence Award in the Small Projects category. The purpose of these awards is to recognize innovation, expertise, and achievements in engineering throughout the state.
