AE2S GIS and Rural Water

Grand Forks Traill Water District (GFTWD) has found success over the years in using a mobile GIS on an iPad to assist them in managing their infrastructure.

Recently, they came up with a useful way of using a web application to collect the location of pipeline leaks.  When a leak occurs, the operator goes out to the field, and uses the iPad to GPS the location.  This maintenance tool is not just used to collect leak locations, but also to collect the locations of other problems.

Though the data itself is simple, it becomes powerful when collected over a period of time.  Over several months, GFTWD is able to create valuable analysis that they can use in order to identify patterns, and to make financial decisions.
