AE2S PROJECT WINS “ENGINEERING EXCELLENCE” AWARD
2/8/2006
Advanced Engineering and Environmental Services, Inc. (AE2S) recently received the “Engineering Excellence” award in the Water and Wastewater category from the North Dakota Council of Engineering Companies (NDCEC) for their design of the Grand Forks Raw Water Intake and Transmission Pipelines Project. The $19 million dollar project provides raw water from the Red and Red Lake Rivers to the existing Water Treatment Plant with improved reliability, redundancy, and seasonal access and additional capacity. Unique features of the project included the use of horizontal directional drilling for pipeline installation, a 60-foot diameter concrete drywell caisson “sunk” to a depth of 65 feet below grade, and a two-story pump station. In addition, the pump station exterior appearance was developed to compliment the surrounding historic neighborhood while incorporating minor modern attributes.
