City and Local Firm Earn Honors for Master Planning Process
4/15/2001
Like so many municipalities in North Dakota and throughout the United States, the City of Bismarck’s Water Treatment Facility faces numerous challenges such as aging infrastructure, tightening regulations, limited funding, and increasing customer service expectations. In response to the array of uncertainties and changes occurring in the water treatment industry, the City adopted the process of master planning.
The City of Bismarck selected a consultant team led by Advanced Engineering and Environmental Services, Inc. in 1997 to initiate new planning efforts for the Bismarck Water Treatment Facility and complete a Master Plan Update.
This effort, the “Bismarck Water Treatment Facility Master Plan Update” was recently awarded the North Dakota Consulting Engineers Council (NDCEC) Engineering Excellence Award. The award celebrates projects that benefit communities by utilizing new applications and innovation and have a positive social or economic impact, as well as projects that add technical value to the engineering profession and/or are complex in nature.
